Information session on submitting an R21to NIH

The National Institute of Health (NIH) offers one grant mechanism that involves relatively low effort but potentially high reward – the R21. Tim Bruckner, Professor of Public Health and Co-Director of CPIP, presented on developing grant proposals for NIH's R21 mechanism. CPIP affiliates can access the slides in CPIP's repository. A link to a video of the presentation is available from the title slide. This event was held on October 16, 2025.

A Gentle Introduction to NIH Grantwriting for Population Scientists

This 1-hour Zoom session, unlike most NIH-style boot camps, focuses on grant writing specifically for population scientists who overwhelmingly submit to the Population Dynamics Branch study sections. CPIP co-director Tim Bruckner provides specific "how-to's", resources available to you, and tips on how to navigate--and understand-- several NIH websites. In addition, Greg Duncan and Candice Odgers, two experienced reviewers of NIH grants, follow with a Q&A session about what reviewers look for in successful grants.
